The Campion College community expresses deep sadness over the passing of Bishop Kevin Manning. On this occasion, we recall his special contribution to the development of Campion College.

In 2001, Bishop Manning made available to the College the 4-hectare campus at Toongabbie.

As Bishop of Parramatta (1997-2010), and earlier of Armidale (1991-1997), the Bishop came to know Campion’s co-founders, James Power Senior and Karl Schmude, and was an early and enthusiastic supporter of the College.

“Campion has always been very grateful to Bishop Manning for his foundational support – in particular, providing the former Marist Fathers’ seminary at Toongabbie as our campus, and later making it available for sale so that the College would be free to carry out major building extensions," said Karl Schmude.

“The campus has proved an ideal environment for our students over the past two decades of teaching. Bishop Manning’s foresight in allowing the College to purchase it has meant that the academic and residential facilities have been greatly expanded in response to our growing student numbers.”

May he rest in peace.
