Campion College recently concluded its highly anticipated 2024 Winter Program. From 9-12 July, 70 senior high school students and recent high school graduates immersed themselves in an enriching schedule of activities designed to offer a taste of life as a liberal arts undergrad at the college.

The program kicked off with spirited icebreaker activities and a captivating trivia night, setting the stage for a week of discovery. Academic sessions spanned Campion's core disciplines, including history, literature, philosophy, theology, and classical languages, with each session designed to ignite intellectual curiosity and foster deep engagement. Participants enjoyed a selection of social activities including bushwalking, casual sports and dancing.

A highlight of the Winter Program was the enchanting bonfire storytelling led by Sonya Kerr, an actress, writer and history enthusiast. Her captivating narrative took participants on a journey through timeless Greek myths, the poetic realm of Shakespeare, and the beauty of storytelling through art, such as Vincent van Gough’s Starry Night, all illuminated by the flickering flames.

A new addition to this year's program was the careers session, which highlighted the invaluable benefits of a liberal arts education. Participants gained insights into the myriad career pathways available, from education and politics to law, health, business, media, and ministry. The session underscored how a liberal arts degree from Campion College equips graduates with versatile skills and perspectives crucial for thriving in today's dynamic world.

Our mock Formal Hall, a consistent program favourite and a highlight for every participant, was especially memorable this year with Genevieve Colman, former CCSA President and distinguished alumna, as our guest speaker. Her engaging talk resonated deeply with participants as she shared her personal journey and the impact of her liberal arts education on her day-to-day life. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Gen for graciously volunteering her time and inspiring our participants with her story.

The Winter Program was made possible by the dedication of Campion's academic and professional staff, whose commitment ensured a seamless and enriching experience for all participants. We extend a special thanks to the student volunteers - Resh, Michael N., Michael G., Tobias, Carmella, Mikaela, Chris, Molly, and Mary - whose enthusiasm and leadership were integral to the program's success.

As Campion College looks ahead, the Winter Program 2024 has left an indelible impression, inspiring participants to consider their future paths with newfound clarity and purpose. See below for a selection of photos from the week.
