Overview

This unit starts with an exploration of effective contemporary adolescent pedagogy in religious education with a focus on a liberal arts approach, the use of provocation of thought, discussion, reflection, contemplation, prayer and meditation. Students completing this subject will develop a body of knowledge in the theology and catechesis of sacraments and sacramentality for the teaching of students in secondary schools. Key principles of Catholic moral teaching and processes for moral decision making will be analysed with a deep understanding of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and its importance. The Mass will be explored in detail as students study the ‘source and summit’ of Catholic life – the Eucharist.
