Campion College Hosts Alumni Reunion
Campion College proudly hosted its first major alumni reunion over the weekend, welcoming over 100 former students, along with their spouses and children, back to campus. The event was a resounding success, filled with nostalgia, learning, and renewed connections.
The weekend's festivities kicked off with a bonfire on the Friday night, allowing alumni to engage in a popular pastime and reminisce about their time at Campion, while also seeing the new buildings and changes that have taken place over the years. This was followed by engaging lectures from Angela Schumann (Class of 2014) and Robert van Gend (Class of 2011), sparking stimulating discussions among attendees in tutorial like small groups.
One of the highlights of the reunion was the Formal Hall dinner which was joined by members of the Campion College Board, College President, faculty and professional staff. The evening was filled with laughter, memories, and heartfelt speeches, as old friends reconnected, and new friendships were formed.
Campion College Alumni Association President, Fenelle McLaurin (Class of 2012), addressed the gathering and noted the unique connections that form through studying the liberal arts at Campion College. “When we meet fellow alumni, even if we did not study alongside them, we connect on a deeper level.” Fenelle also observed that the reunion had revealed the unique joy Campion alumni experience being with one another, and in particular being back home together at Campion College.
Throughout the weekend, a key message resonated with all participants: the importance of staying engaged with the college. During the alumni strategy session led by the Campion College Alumni Association, numerous ideas were discussed on how alumni can continue to contribute to and benefit from their alma mater. From mentoring current students to participating in networking events or even helping to fund student scholarships, there are many ways for alumni to remain involved and support the college's mission.
The reunion was not just a celebration of the past but also a look to the future. Alumni expressed a strong desire to maintain and strengthen their ties with Campion College, ensuring that the spirit of community and lifelong learning that defines this institution continues to thrive.
We look forward to more gatherings like this in the future, as we build on the success of our first alumni reunion and continue to foster a vibrant and engaged alumni network.
